Introduction

The blog is up!  We're going to use this to post ideas and keep track of progress as we develop the Floating Continent.  Please read this post as we get started.

Blog Guidelines

I want to keep this blog as tidy as possible, so please follow these guidelines as closely as possible.

Labels

Use the following labels to categorize your posts using the Labels feature:

• Update - a status update on the project or individual assignment.
• Map - a post containing a map of the Floating Continent.
• Diagram - a post containing a diagram of an object or assembly.
• Procedure - a post containing step-by-step instructions for something.
• Screenshot - a post containing a screenshot image of the Floating Continent in the Minecraft world.
• Idea - an idea or suggestion for the Floating Continent.
• Problem - an issue concerning something with the Floating Continent that needs to be resolved.
• Question - a question you have about something while building the Floating Continent.
• Link - a link to a site that has useful resources.
• Tool - a direct download link for software that will make building the Floating Continent easier.

This will keep the blog organized by topic and make it easier to find posts we need.  We will probably add labels as we go as the blog expands.

Posts and Comments

• Keep your posts and comments to posts clean and organized.  Use spell checking and correct grammar.
• Check the blog to see if your topic has been covered before making new posts.  If you find something applicable and have something new to add to it, write a comment.

My Current Plan

• Post a scanned image of the original map I drew.  It has labels and elevation lines to give an overall idea for the Continent and what will be going there.
• Post a pixel-to-block map.  This will give the proper scale of breadth of everything on the Continent.  It'll also have subdivisions we can divvy up to start building up the basic landmasses.
• Post a sketch of elevations.  This will give the proper scale of height of everything on the Continent.  It'll also identify certain features that are underground or otherwise obscured by the cardinal maps.
• Post several links to some necessary tools.  We could just construct stuff in Minecraft...if we wanted to spend several years on this.  But the tools I will list will be extremely helpful depending on what we are working on.
• Create a Dropbox folder to contain and share files that otherwise can't be shared on this blog.

These items alone should be enough to get us started.  Changes will undoubtedly occur (foremost probably being the massive scale), but we can easily change any landmasses that we construct along the way.  More to come as I get more organized.
